175 HAGLEY ROAD, OLDSWINFORD,
STOURBRIDGE, WORCSESTERSHIRE,
UNITED KINGDOM - ENGLAND.
Reason For Listing: I Was Raised In This Place.
I Am Interested In Obtaining: Old Photographs. Photographs Of The Street Or Road. Information On Old Friends.
I Have: Information On Old Friends.
Interested In The Period From 1955 To 1968.

The place was a block of terraced houses that backed onto a lane at the rear. There was another block of terraced houses that formed a block from the top of the garden down to the main road. It was like a block L shaped. We used to have communal Bonfires and parties at the back of the line of terraced houses that ran down to the main road. The houses had cellars and the houses were very old with holes in the floorboards that were covered over with sheets of tin to stop the furniture dropping through. The bedroom windows were so low you could stand on the ledges inside the bedroom. There were gaps between the outside wall of the house and the floorboards. There was electricity but no earth wires and so I had many an electric shock as I grew up. There was no bathroom and the toilets were in blocks of two side by side at the end of the row of houses. We had to bathe in a tin bath in front of thr fire. The houses were demolished around 1959 or 1960 to make way for new houses.
