I am 63, married with three grown-up children, none of whom live at home. My hobbies include golf, gardening, music, reading, watching football and genealogy. I recently retired and am happily spending my time enjoying the aforementioned.
I am currently researching my family history and the history of Cathcart district in Glasgow and Braehead House in particular. There is very little on record of this large house which was located at the centre of what was Braehead Estate. At the moment I only know it was a built around 1820 and demolished around 1950 to make way for the present housing estate of the same name which was built 1951-54. I have located some old maps via the www and these clearly show the house and the nearby village of Braehead.
