My main interests include: genealogy, the internet, painting (pastel,watercolour and oil), music, books by Jeffery Farnol and Warwick Deeping, photography Places Lived Belfast, Edinburgh, Manchester, Swansea, Monmouthshire, Windsor, Perth (Western Australia), Famagusta (Cyprus), Sunderland. Military History Served with the Royal Signals, with basic training at Catterick, then trained as a Special Operator at Woodhouse Eaves near Loughborough before being posted to Cyprus. Left the army in 1964. Was a keen distance and cross-country runner and ran a number of cross-country races against the RAF. Family History I've traced back my father's line to 1727, partly by use of the internet and partly from church records. They originated in Droylsden and although earlier generations appear to have been christened and married at St Michaels Church, Ashton upon Lyne, from about the 1820's they seem to have become Wesleyan Methodists with my great, great grandfather being a preacher (as well as a book-keeper!)
