I was taken to live at 232 Harborough Ave when I was a very young baby, our next door neighbours were Mr Mrs Davies they had 3 children Trevor,Wendy,Linda. I was at school with Trevor but Wendy was my pal.I remember that our bedrooms were next to each other over the top of the indoor sheds,we used to talk about drilling a hole on each side so we could talk to each other at night.At the time Mr Davies was working on the buses.Sometime around 1968 I went back to Wendy's and stayed for a few days but since then we have not been in touch.I was married to a man in the RAF and so I have moved home many times both here and abroad, I am now divorced and I live near my son in Buckinghamshire.

Hello. Here is my story told by my maternal grandmother Liza Odazhy: It happened in Romania in the city of Bucharest. My grandmother and her three sisters had gone to work there in 1922-1926 (approx). There were some changes in the parliament of Ukraine and they made a decided to block border for 1 to 2 days. There were lots of people waiting for trains to return back to Ukraine as they were wishing to go back home. While the wait was long, the sisters of my maternal grand mother became increasing hungry and two of sisters decided to go and buy some rolls. These rolls became the reason of separation. When they returned back to the railway station they found out that the train had arrived and has quickly departed. This was the last train and then the boarders were closed. So these two sisters did not have an opportunity to return back to Ukraine immediately. However later they decided to stay back in Bucharest and settle down. The names of these two sisters are: Solomia and Sania and their maiden names were Kostrubenko. Solomia was older than Sania. Both these sisters had no option but to stay in Bucharest. Solomia in the meantime had got married but was divorced afterwards and has died during an appendicitis operation. The doctors have forgotten a scissor inside during the operation and had sewn the opening up. By the time this mistake was detected it was too late but the doctors decided to do a second operation anyway. Solomia eventually succumbed to the negligence of the doctors and died on the operating table. This incident happened approximately 5-7 years after they missed the train and missed one of their sisters. Sania had in the meantime married a captain and has given birth to the son and the daughter. Son Oktovian Barbu was born in 1950 of a birth and studied law to become a lawyer. The daughter Stella Barbu was 3-4 years younger than her brother and they should be around 50 to 60 years old now. In the early 1960 they had written letters and they visited the their aunt (younger sister Pasha who was in Bucharest and had taken the train back to Ukraine) who lived in Odessa. The brother and sisters using their mother’s letter found the village Udobnoe in Ukraine, where the parents of their mother lived. If you have any further questions about this story I will be glad to answer them. I and my relatives would be grateful if you can locate our lost family that might presently be residing in Romania, probably in Bucharest.

I Lived here from aboutu 1933 until 1945 when I joined the army. George Dewfall my grandfather lived here until 1968 when he came to live with us at Southampton. He was a signalman on the Somerset & Dorset Jount Railway at Highbridge. My father lived at Burnham until 1945 when he died. He served with the Post Office Rifles in France during WW1 until he was wounded and was invalided home to to Burnham where he returned to work at the Post Office. My name is Roger Neil Turner. I lived in this house with my parents, sister and grandfather, prior to immigrating to Australia in 1968. My fathers name is Raymond Turner, my mothers name is Leila Turner. My sister’s name is Karen Ann Turner (Now Wilkinson). My grandfather’s name was Frank Turner. Both my father and grandfather worked at the Wellington Tube Works in Great Bridge. I used to attend the Mount Pleasant Juniour School in Ivyhouse Lane, Coseley. I would be interested in any pictures of the school. I would be interested to see other photographs of the Denise Drive and neighbours from the period of around 1960 to 1968. I have a number of old photographs of the house and some of the street. I also have some old 16mm film that has been transferred to videocassette, showing the Cosely Carnival around 1963 and part of the street and garden of No 22. Would be interested to find out what has happened to Keith Marriott and John Anderson (who features briefly in the 16mm film). Who is living in number 22 now? How long have they lived there. I remember a large quadrangle with buildings on three sides - they were constructing new buildings on the fourth side when I left the school to move back to Sydney.
