Knaresborough is a beautiful, historic market and spa town in North Yorkshire, England and is set on a bluff on the River Nidd. The railway viaduct over the river is a focal point and is the main subject of this painting, where it is viewed from the castle.
Crossing the viaduct is the Union of South Africa, an A4 locomotive pulling the Scarborough Spa Express, which ran in July and August 2007. This painting was selected as a Finalist in International Artist Magazine's Landscape Art Challenge No. 55 and published in Issue 71 February/March 2010.
